Coating with receptor to make a measurement selective for one (class of) analyte

The way an analyte is specifically bound in a measurement channel on the chip is shown below:

In this picture, the most left channel is coated with a specific antibody to a particular (class of) virus, let us say N1H1. This virus does not specifically bind to other antibodies in the other measurement channels.
Hence, whereas a specific measurement channel is pre-coated with a specific antibody, the complementary (to that antibody, also called antigen) is specifically bound in that measurement channel. The change in the optical phase (detected by a so-called CCD camera) compared to that of the reference channel is used to detect the presence of the analyte sought and furthermore, its precise concentration is calculated within minutes.
